Happy New Year!

I might be late for this post but I'm sure some of us still have some holiday hungover eh?

So how did you spend New year's eve?

As for me, I didn't spend it in Jaildah or above 35,000 ft or in a fancy hotel. I spent New Year's eve in a place very special to my heart, I spent it at home. Yes, I've been meaning to broadcast to the world that I'll be able to go home for New year's celebration since the day I knew it. But I've thought it would be happier if I'd surprise my family. Teehee.

Going home is always heartwarming for me. Imagine my Papa and Mama crying the moment they saw me standing in front of them. It was priceless.

I was very happy to be home. I really needed that time off from everything. I have been really blessed and favoured by God this 2012. I have been to some beautiful places I've never imagined I would set foot to. I've done some ridiculous things I'm not quite proud of but I've survived and now I'm wiser and better. I've learned a lot, spent a lot and even though I have my own lot now I know I have to save a lot. Okay that's too many lot's in one sentence. Haha.

This year has been AMAZING and it's all because of God's will. Looking back now at this first few days of 2013 I'm just really thankful for God for his 365 days of blessings. And that he granted my only wish before the year ends, to be with my family.

I guess it's a good start of 2013 for me.

And yes, I am now engaged to the love of my life.

The typhoon which brought us love

September 28, 2006.

It was exactly four years ago. Four years ago when Yok and I first set eyes on each other.

I was soaked in the rain, with my gold satin gown and washed-up face from the pour. Yok Han was inside the church, anxious and nervous perhaps, ;p waiting for the moment we're about to see each other.

September 28, 2010.

Four years after. Remembering how typhoon Milenyo swept 'that wedding' with rain as well as swept off our feet to each other; today's the first time Yok held my hand, today's the first moment Yok kissed my cheeks and today's the first chance Yok told me in the eye that he love me and adore me.

Today's the day we braved typhoon Milenyo and faced God with our love. It was four years after this very day, we walked down the aisle with so much love in our heart and so much passion in our mind that we asked Him to bless us and guide us throughout the years to come.

Happy fourth year of togetherness my Yok Han! Happy fourth year anniversary of 'that wedding'. I love you to the core.

Forgive me if I could not put pictures of how we first met.

This is what I'm afraid of.

Ever since Yok joined the fraternity in his Law school, I've become apprehensive of one thing; frat wars. I don't have anything against the brotherhood but if violence comes with it, I do not approve of that.

At first, Yok did not tell me he joined frat then because he knows I'm tons against it. He revealed it to me weeks after his initiation when all the bruises and scars were healed hence the girlfriend can't do anything because it's all been done. I just told him one thing- not to partake on frat wars.

September is the bar exams month and every Law school's fraternities and sororities show support on their colleagues. I've been there once and I can't hardly say every frat's hub is safe. This year, Yok wasn't active and he only went in the site once and left immediately in the morning.

Tonight 42 people were hurt because of a blast in De La Salle at Taft. I was completely surprised as I heard the news. The bar exams ended in a violent way because of supposedly frat wars. I couldn't think of what would I do if Yok went there and was hurt. I was so scared. I thanked God because he knows the Yok shouldn't be there.

Everything's gonna be alright!

Day 16 of the 60-day blog challenge

That' what I'd like to hold on for now. I don't want to disclose what's happening right now to us but I'm asking for your prayers.

Yesterday, Jeff slept here at home. Papa was glad he came over. We had merienda, dinner, and breakfast together. We hugged and kissed all the time I can and I just have to say that I miss him sooo much!

I miss him already now. Sorry for this non-sense blahs. I'm too tired from work and other stuff. I promise to write good stuff tomorrow. Good night folks!

Four years...and beyond!

Day 3 of the 60-day blog challenge.

As you can see from my previous post, I was struggling to blog so as not to break the challenge. Forgive me for the non-sense blahs, incorrect spelling and, some wrong grammar on the sides. Hee.

Yep, yesterday was our anniversary. Yok Han and I celebrated our 4th year of being a couple without a bouquet of roses, no fancy dinner in an expensive restaurant and without exchange gifts. Yes, I am not happy to say that we are both broke. This is the truth. But I am not ashamed neither. It always happen to someone's life wherein he only has a few in his pocket but so much in his heart.

Surprisingly, we had a meaningful celebration. See, if you just have gotten out of a fight and you'll be celebrating your anniversary anytime soon, you'll feel like you've survived a big hurdle on your road. Yok Han and I attended mass. We prayed for the blessings God gave us, for the courage He provided us to continuously put up with each other, and the love He's giving us. We really felt thankful for the past four years we've been together. We fought, cried, made up, learned, and laughed with each other. We prayed that God will continue to guide us throughout the years to come. It's unexplainable, but when you can tell just by the look in his eyes, the touch of his hands, the warmth of his hug, and the sweetness of his kiss that he's the one you want, and love, and cherish, you'll pray to God for that love to last. You would want the universe to conspire with your love, to make your world as one and, to make each day shine with your love. And that's exactly what I did.

After mass, Yok Han and I ate out. We feasted our starved stomachs in El Pollo Loco, known for its crazy Mexican chicken. I must say their crunchy beef taco was delicioso! Yok han finished his meal and gave up with the burrito, hee. :) We went home, gave each other body massage, sang our hearts out, and chatted the night away.

You were there when I hit rock bottom and when I was on top of the rainbow. Now, I want to be the person who'll fill your dreams and make it all come true. I can't promise sunshine and butterflies, and lullabies. I know my game plan has always been rough and not steady, but if you will just stay with me until the end, I'll promise you that our journey through life is all worth risking.

Happy 4 years of love, understanding, patience, happiness, and life. I love you to the core!

Here's a picture of us during our summer in Venetian, Macau.
The gondolier said a couple should kiss under
the bridge for good luck!
I bet this kiss will bring us all the luck in the world eh? :)
I love you, ever mine, ever ours.

Quick check

I've been through a lot lately. Work bullies, heart aches, trust issues, family problems and other personal stuff I dare not to write about. Two words. I'm exhausted.

It's like, reality slapped me on the face, burst my bubble and I, the gullible and vulnerable gal, was hurt, and too bad, I never saw it coming.

Work. Delayed flights. Hotac. Rebellious passengers. I was excited at first like a child holding her first barbecue. But gad, twas a day to endure and remember. Too many lessons learned that day. Too much points to ponder on. And the room is so big for improvement. I'll fire away.

Heart aches. I was hurt by the people I never expected would turn their backs on me, accused and prejudged me. Sigh. I don't want to remember every deets of it. What's important now is Jeff and I are together (yes, we've been on a rough road lately), and that's what counts. The fact that we have each other at this time that we're almost hitting rock bottom, we still have the world to hold on to.

Family. I can still put up with heart breaks but when my family is on the line, it's as if my heart will come off my chest with sadness. It's the first time my father has been rushed to the hospital. When I was told by my sister, my tears started to fall in a heartbeat. Tears kept running down my face while I'm on my way home from Mall of Asia to Cavite. When I saw Papa in the ER, I tried to be calm and refrained myself from crying. I tried to make the aura cool and fun by joking him. I'm glad Papa is recuperating well. Not so long after that, I was told that my uncle was rushed also in the ER. He had a mild stroke. Oh, it really pours when it rains. Uncle Globen is my favorite Uncle in the world. I remember how fun my childhood days were when he teases. Please, please, help my family dear God.

Oh, too many bad vibes. Shoo. shoo. shoo. I'll doze it all away. Good night. And beware of the bed bugs that bite.

The ugly truth

No. This is not, in any form, related to a movie where girls try to fit in to the perfect-girlfriend-material every boys would like to have.

This is just the truth speaking, and me in awe.

Twas one beautiful morning when I woke up in Yok han's arms. He was stroking my hair while I dream of shopping spree and body spa and massage. I was happy. Thinking that he's the first thing I will see in the morning as I open my eyes. He was staring at me lovingly, either I'm just exaggerating or what, I can feel all the love pouring down on me even while I'm still asleep.

We started the day by chatting all our stories off. He told me how his work was going and I spoke of how my training went on. I shared with him the good news with regards to my training, yes, I passed, and another good news. And then he broke what seemed to be like a fairy-tale-like with this question.

Yok: If you were to choose between writing for that magazine and your crazy airport fantasy, what would it be?

Me: Well, (clears throat), I can write as long as I can, writing has no age limit. I can write in the comfort of our house and earn money from that, I can write even if we already have a family. But in the airline industry, it's not the same. The lifestyle is not suitable for married couples, so I might as well spend my life there before we settle down right? As of present time, I can contribute for that magazine, but I'll be full time in the airport.

Yok: So you'll choose the airport?

Me: Yeah, right. Why?

Yok: Nothing.

The following scenarios weren't as clear as these dialogues. It just spurred out on me, I just got hit with that idea, that Yok was using that magazine as a metaphor on our relationship. What I have just said, was something like, I will just be contributing in our relationship because I need to be full time in my work. And in that moment I realized my impulse ideas, I felt really really sad. I didn't mean to make things look like that, but without saying a word, Yok Han seemed to have fully understood my priorities in life. As much as I wanted to take my words back, he won't buy it coz' I already have told the truth.

In the following days, weeks, months, and years, may we weather all the storm that will come upon us and stand tall at the end of that tunnel, standing beside each other, and making all our dreams come into reality.

How sinful Chocolate Heaven is like

So today Yok Han and I might have died because of...eating a very sinful piece of chocolate cake! Seriously!

After we strolled around the mall finding a perfect suit for Yok, we were starved and decided to eat merienda. The boyfriend wants to eat pasta and cake and so we went to Red Ribbon, because it's the only available food chain in the mall which serves both. Yok Han has been meaning to try the Chocolate Heaven while I, contented with a plate of pasta, tried it too for I am a chocolate lover!

It was very tempting at first look. Covered with shinny chocolate icing and chocolate curls. One time I was watching a cooking show, the chef made a chocolate icing and boy, making a shinny and polished-floor like icing isn't an easy breezy thing to do! Oh how I'd like to have a cooking show one day! Too bad I wasn't able to take a photo of it so I googled some for you to see!

Red Ribbon's Chocolate Heaven, sinfully heaven!

Inside look of the cake, the chocolate brownie layer serves as the base of the cake, layered with chocolate mousse on top, slathered with dark chocolate icing and topped with chocolate curls.

At first bite, it was excellent! The fine and luscious chocolate mousse melts in your mouth. And when I said fine, it's oh-so-fine! Unlike other poor chocolate mousse, Red Ribbon's chocolate heaven has rich and thick mousse I can eat like all day everyday! Top-liner! Partnered with layered mousse is the crunchy and fudgy chocolate brownie base, the second most perfect brownie I've ever tasted, so far, next to Mrs' Field's almond brownie. The two compliments one another in perfection!

The only thing I did not like is the chocolate icing and the chocolate curls topping. I'm a lover of dark chocolate and the two taste like it. But see, there are things that may seem bad by themselves like raw egg, cooking oil and flour. But when they're put together in the right way, they may a wonderful and delicious cake. But in this case, all things are perfect by themselves and tried to make even more perfect when put together. The result? It was too much, I think.

And goodness, just think of the sky-high fat and the calories intake after eating this piece of sin. A normal chocolate cake, with filling and coating will cost you 26% of total fat. Now imagine how much more fat you'll be accumulating in one sitting with that baby eh? I'm not a body-conscious gal who shapes up for the society but I try to be a health buff so as to take care of my inherited Diabetes blood line.

The cake is too much it makes my heart go pitter-patter. Seriously! Yok and I wasn't even able to finish that piece of heaven and sin and when we stood up, we felt dizzy. Probably because of the sugar rush.

I haven't eaten dinner and will never eat because I still feel full and sweet and fudgy all over! It's a sinful piece of heaven indeed!

How I met Macau

It was more than a week after my birthday trip (and my birthday week!) abroad. It was the best week of my life, so far. It's what Yok Han and I needed. VACATION! We wanted to get away from everything work-related, breathe fresh (or maybe not) air, see people we've never encountered before, to tour a foreign land, sleep and wake up every time we want!

I only wish I was with my family so it could be more memorable.

Well, our first stop was Macau.

Macau greeted me with a very cold breeze, as if telling and welcoming me that I'm not in the steamy country of the Philippines anymore. It was around 10 pm when we arrived and as tourists do first, we could not see sights at night. And of course, we have to rest because we are planning to cross Hong Kong first thing in the morning.

Macau has small and narrow streets. That's why they only have small cars and even small buses unlike our big ones. You can only spot few SUV vans because most of their cars are Mazda, Kia, Hyundai, Honda and others that have small models. And boy, they have so many luxury and sport cars parading everyday. No wonder the most coveted and internationally known Macau Grand Prix is held in the city. I've also noticed numerous scooters parked on the streets. Macau locals are huge users of scooters and big bikes! Every street has a parking space and meter for scooters which they pay per hour. Oh well, if it were in our country, you won't see your scooter tomorrow morning because it was stolen! That's how safe to live in there. I was informed that the crime rate in Macau is very low that one can walk on the streets at midnight without even getting threatened or harmed. Cool!

The next day, we woke up really really late, well, for Yok it's because of a severe headache, yes from a hungover, I tell you, Vodka in Macau is the bomb! Heee. It's around 11 in the morning and when I peeked outside I fret for a moment, closed my eyes, blinked twice, turned my head around and yet there's no sign of the sun. Yes, it's close to noon and there is no sun peeking in the city. The fog is very thick it covers high rise buildings. Twas very cloudy and cold and comfy I wanted to go back to sleep. Heee.

And so, we went out to buy groceries, including our brunch. We went to a place called red market, maybe because it's exterior is surrounded with red bricks. Their market is very clean, well, the usual stinky smell of market but not the stench of market combined with garbage! You can even see their meats are pinkish and firm, vegetables are fresh and leafy, even the fish they sell, some cut open, still breathes! I did not bring my camera with me so no pictures for the tidy and fresh market. What I am most amazed of is the very low prices of their products. Imagine really really big prawns they sell for only 18 mop per kilo? We can only buy a candy for 1 peso but in Macau one can buy a piece of egg for 1 mop! Think of sticky rice for lunch and you can avail it for 3.50 mop. Commuting? Their buses only cost 3.25 mop for a ride almost the same distance when traveling from Caloocan to Quirino! Oh, and for tourists, don't fret much of your transportation expenses because they have free shuttle buses that go in different destinations. The cost of living in this city is so low an OFW can send a month's salary and can still survive in the city until the next payday! I kid you not!

I also noticed that the people in Macau start their day and go to work not as early as we do. People leave their homes around 8 in the morning. Street crowd gets busier when it's close to noon. And oh, how I love the street fashion of the locals. They don on every outfit they want to wear and won't get an eye for it. I wish people here won't meddle with our everyday outfit and even far from one's life. People here don't mind others, in a positive way.

What freaked me in Macau, is their language tone. Their like shouting even though they are not. The major language is Cantonese but still some are using Portuguese and Mandarin. Good thing Yok Han can understand a bit, because he only knows Fukien, and Lily too can speak and understand Cantonese averagely! Despite of their aggressive pitches, Macau boost of its clean community. People spit in garbage cans or drainage canals and put their trash on assigned places (lapsa). Not all locals speak English unless you're in hotels or casinos and other tourist spot areas, they understand English language however. To my surprise, some of them can understand and speak Filipino but only limited to prices and greetings.

Going back, we ate our brunch and headed to the ferry terminal and went to Hong Kong. We stayed there for three days and returned in Macau. I can't upload here the pictures yet because I want to compete my album first. I will continue and post the pictures once I'm done!

The story doesn't end here :) Keep in touch folks!

The graduation post (Yes, a late post)

My birthday week and birthday trip is officially over!

I'm back here in the country and enduring the scorching heat of summer. As I have all the luxury of time to rest, read, browse the net and all other things a bum can do I might as well start to blog about things that I've been meaning to blog. And so, I will start it off by my graduation day.

Well, nothing's really special that day. I was happy but not that pretty great. Maybe because I know that my friends and I will meet again because of paper works that we have to finish and other academic requirements we have to comply prior to exit. Or maybe because I know I will not receive my diploma but only a pretty piece of paper as remembrance. Anyhoo, I dressed up and went to school with my parents, grandmother, cousin, and Jeff. My youngest sister was also there as her graduation ceremony took place in the morning. The ceremony was fast, about an hour and a half. After that, almost all of my friends disappeared with their families. And so am I.

This photo was taken by my sister after the graduation ceremony.

And this is me with my Nanay, Papa and Mama. (from L-R) Look at Papa! Haha!

With the so-like-me Dad.

With my hunny bunny who skipped his work in the afternoon just to be there in my graduation. He wouldn't miss it for the world eh? :)

With the gang. :)

Well, of course, my sister who graduated from Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

My prutty sister with Mama.
They look very happy and pretty.

Ivy and Nanay. :)

Right after the ceremony we went home and and ate dinner. I just felt nice that finally, I have accomplished something which made my parents very proud, I think. As of this very moment, my plans are vague. I am planning to take a detour on my career, well you can read it here, because of my dream of building a bank, a salon, a publishing house or my own TV station. Skip all that. I guess I'll be a practical, independent woman who knows what she wants and does everything to get it. I can, I am, and I will.

The birthday post

Today is April 3.
Today is a black Saturday.
Today is I-pad D-day...
and today is my birthday!

I feel old, not because of my age but of some changes. I used to look forward to summer. Aside from it's the month of my birthday, summers are sembreak from the whole year-round of schooling. It's a refresher. As I celebrate my birthday I fly away from paperworks and school loads. I get off the beach or elsewhere-- unwind, swim, party and get crazy.

Starting this year summer will look differently to me. As I celebrate my birthday, I won't look forward to a new semester, new professors and get reunited with my bestest friends. Summer will mean another month of workload, paychecks and maybe, if lucky, a week's vacay! Sounds not collegey eh?

Oh well, as my friend told me, I have to grow up as I age up. And the ranting will stop here.

Insert thankful here instead.

I am thankful for the 21 years that our good Lord have provided me good health, wealth, peace of mind, education and for a supportive, loving and caring family.I am thankful for all the best things in life he gave me and my family, and all the worst things in life that have made me an insightful, cautious and decisive person. I am really thankful because I am surrounded with lovely people who are always there to love, teach and guide me as I create my life. I am thankful for my parents who always make both ends meet for our siblings' needs. I could never be where I am right now and I could never be this person if it weren't for you. I love you. Thank you to my sisters and my Lola, to my cousins and family in and out of the country who keep on believing on me, even if at times I don't believe on myself.

I am soo thankful to Yok Han, my future love, who continuously put up with me, no matter what, who gives me so much love sometimes I can't contain and felt that I deserve it the least, for loving me albeit my tantrums are out of this world, for inspiring me to be better and wiser, for teaching me that I can't be always right, and for the constructive criticisms you comment on me now and then. I love you to bits.

To everyone who greeted me, thank you and God bless your beautiful soul. To God, thank you and I will not lose my faith on you. I pray for more blessings for my family, good health, long life and outpouring love. I pray that our Hong Kong trip will be safe and sound until we come back here. I'm not as happy as a bee perhaps because I'm not with my family. But I know I will have a very good time with Yok Han and his siblings. Someday, we can travel altogether Ma and Pa. I will provide and God will :)

Now, all my bags are packed and I'm ready to go! Ciao!

What I am loving right now

As graduation day nears, I have more quality time to spend with my family, Jeff and myself.

And these are the things that make me happy, either purchased or not!

  1. Two perfect schus! Yok Han's gift for me!
This one he chose for my graduation day! Yok Han also picked my dress we bought at Topshop. Well, this man has classic taste when it comes to clothing, really. I will be in an all-black ensemble, with laces and ribbons, hoping to pull off that look without looking like someone died! ;p

This comfy and stylish flats in snakeskin he chose for our trip to Hong Kong, Macau and China. Because Yok Han seems to spoil me again on shopping sprees, I am taking him to the shoe salon next week! :)

2. Half-gallon of ice cream stashed in our fridge I am eating now while bathed in sweat and still burning fats. Don't you love summer at all?

3. My new and improved healthy lifestyle: Early morning jogging, exercise and decreased food intake!

4. Good reads! I am now reading a lot of good books because I have more time to do so! Yay!

5. Good movies! It's like rummaging all the good and classic movies in my Father's betamax cabinet! Hahaha!

6. And, oh by the way, last night, I was in utter bliss. Twas the "Meet the Parents" night. Our own version; Yok Han's parents met mine and my parents met his' as well. Wedding bells, eh? Definitely, it's would not be too soon!
